Rust & Petals

Rust & Petals

"Rust & Petals"

The International was parked long ago and the daisies came anyway. They stand in the foreground, white and patient, and the old orange enamel waits behind them, chipped to bare metal in the places that carried the most work. Morning light over everything, hazy and gold, like the scene is being remembered rather than seen.

I think this is a photograph about two kinds of patience that never met each other and don't need to. The truck's and the flowers'. It fits in kitchens and entryways, wherever a little stubborn optimism should hang ā€” the kind that keeps running, or keeps growing, without being asked.
