Salt and Whiskers

Salt and Whiskers

There's no posing this one — the wind's had its say in every direction the fur's decided to go. But it's the eyes that hold you: deep brown, a little cloudy at the edges with age, looking straight into the lens with the kind of patience only an old dog has. The salt-and-pepper streak running down the muzzle tells its own story, a soft counterpoint to all that wild motion around it. Not every subject needs weathered steel or peeling paint to earn its place — sometimes it's just a face that's seen a few winters and isn't in any hurry to explain itself.
